Mai i te Hōtaka Ārahi: Michael Naera

This is my first edition as Acting Programme lead of Nōku te Ao. Harley Rogers is on a secondment and I am honoured to step into the role.

This is the third for four īpānui updating you on progress and achievements of the Nōku te Ao programme.

In this edition we include a recap of what was achieved since we launched He Karanga, our submission to the Mental Health Act reform and repeal which closed in January 2022. Read our story and see how many supporters endorsed our position statement.

I am also looking to sharing a preview of Tū Pakari, Tū Taha: Stand Along, Stand Beside, our new video series of Tangata Whaiora sharing their experiences and what guided their decision-making in getting the COVID-19 vaccine. For more information visit the Nōku te ao website, and follow Nōku te Ao: Like Minds on Facebook

This īpānui concludes with a report from recent Ngā Kāhui Manukura wāhanga, and introduces the Lived Experience rōpū who are one of the groups advising the Nōku te Ao project.

The next edition of this īpānui will be the final of our Māori calendar year. I look forward to sharing reflections on the first year of Nōku te Ao: Like Minds. We will also share progress from Māori and Pacific literature reviews, introduce our evaluation framework Te Pae Tāwhiti, and profile some recent additions to our whānau whanui of provider partners.

Wishing you and your whānau all the best, and take care. Kia haumaru te noho. Kia tau te mauri.

Ngā manaakitanga katoa, Michael Naera
